Hidden In The Horizons
Inspired by two dedicated Geocachers, a group of university students will journey through the Okanagan Valley trying to find hidden treasures, creating new friendships and a deeper love for the outdoors.
This participatory documentary features a small group of university students, as they embark on a journey finding hidden treasures in the Okanagan valley. Inspired by two administrators of the Kelowna Facebook Geocaching group, Tony Otto and Alison Schneider, the group of amateur geocachers experience the fun-filled activity known as geocaching, while exploring their local outdoors. The journey begins as the small film crew tries to find their first geocaches, some successfully and others not, they determinedly state that they will be back. On their next adventure they are joined by a first time geocacher who knows nothing about the activity, capturing their authentic reactions and opinions. As the film progresses, we learn more about Geocaching and its impact on the local community. Through the 2024 Leap Year event we learn how Geocaching connects people across all walks of life. The film concludes as the original crew of students has doubled in size and the eager geocachers hike up Knox Mountain trying to find a couple last caches. Through a final montage of their Knox Mountain adventure the film ends on a positive note, ultimately aiming to encourage viewers to go out and experience geocaching for themselves.
